New Version of F-PROT Antivirus for Windows.

F-PROT Antivirus for Windows version 6.0.8.0 is scheduled to be released early next week, most likely on Monday, October 29, 2007.

This is a major upgrade to the entire scanning engine as well as a comprehensive behind-the-scenes improvement.

In addition to minor changes to the user interface this release features a substantially higher overall level of quality and an even better heuristics detection rate.

While f-prot will update the virus definition files and continue to operate well by itself, it will not automatically upgrade the engine unless you ask it to. Installing this upgrade is recommended.

To install this upgrade run f-prot and select "Updates" tab at the top then click the "Check for Updates" button at the bottom

RIGHT-click on the f-prot icon in your systray (near the clock in the lower right hand corner of your desktop) and select "Update F-PROT Antivirus" from the resulting menu.

Note that if it reports that no updates are available the update may not have been released yet or the server may be too busy to accept your connection at that time. This is very popular software and many of people will be attempting to download this upgrade on Monday. Be patient, try again in a day or two.
